Medication & Special Care
Experienced, patient care for elderly cats, cats on medication, and cats with specific dietary or medical needs.
What's included
Some cats need more than a comfortable pen and a regular feeding schedule: an older cat with arthritis, a cat managing a chronic condition, or one on daily medication all need an extra level of attentiveness that a standard boarding routine doesn’t always account for. This service is built specifically around that: slower, more observant care, with medication given exactly as prescribed and at the right times, and a pen set up to suit the individual cat rather than a one-size-fits-all layout.
Elderly cats are given a quieter pen away from the busier parts of the cattery, softer or raised bedding where it helps with joint stiffness, and easier access to litter trays and food and water bowls. We keep a closer eye on appetite and toileting for cats with known health conditions, since small changes are often the first sign that something needs attention, and we would always rather call you early than wait.
For cats on medication, we log every dose given, so there is a clear record of exactly what was administered and when throughout their stay. If your cat’s dosage or routine changes partway through (for example following a vet visit before their stay), just let us know and we will adjust immediately.
Who this service is for
This service suits senior cats, cats with diagnosed conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism or arthritis, cats recovering from surgery or illness, and any cat whose owner simply wants the reassurance of a more closely supervised stay. If you’re at all unsure whether your cat’s needs fit here, call us before booking. We would rather talk it through honestly than take on a stay we’re not set up for.
Many cats needing special care are also boarding for extended periods; if that’s the case for you, it’s worth reading long-stay boarding alongside this page. For families with more than one cat, some needing medication and others not, multi-cat families covers how we arrange shared pens where appropriate.
Vaccination and health requirements
As with all our boarding services, [CONFIRM: exact vaccination requirements, e.g. up-to-date Feline Herpesvirus, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia (F3) vaccination, certificate required at drop-off] For cats with an existing medical condition, we also ask for your vet’s contact details and, where relevant, a brief written summary of their condition and current treatment plan, so we have everything to hand if we need to make a quick decision on your cat’s behalf.
